Memory Lane can be quite a trip

Purely by coincidence, we decided to take a little trip down memory lane. What started out as going to lunch in Lakeland on Saturday afternoon, soon turned into a cruise thru the Dixieland Historic District and also the Lake Morton Historic District. It was amazing to see how these old bungalows have been tastefully restored to their original beauty. As we were working our way around town, Bobby showed me a small house near Lime Street that he had lived in as a boy. He told me about who lived their with him. He asked what I thought- the only thing I could think is "wow! how did ya'll fit so many people into that little house? " His grandma sure could pack them in when needed.

We took Taylor by the first house that we lived in off of Crystal Lake. The old neighborhood still looked pretty good. I got to doing the math and it has been nearly 17 years ago that we lived there... Then we took her to show her the house we lived in the first 3 years of her life. I was amazed at the way the house looked- nothing like when we were there... We did however have a good laugh about the boganvilla in the back yard that would rip apart Bobby's arms when he would cut them back... Many years ago, I pledge to him that never would there ever be a boganvilla planted in any ground anywhere that we owned.

Sometimes, it is good to look back on our past, not to dwell on them, but to reflect. Yesterday has burned an impression into my mind. I have taken for granted the many ways that the Lord has truly blessed our family! When we came home to our home, I just looked around and silently thanked God for all that he has been so gracious to give to us. Ya, so we dont live in the gated community or the biggest house on the block, but what a blessing that he has delivered us from our past and has shown so much blessing to us. I am thankful that HE has done so much for us and that HE has allowed us 10 years of living here. I never really knew exactly why we moved to Winter Haven in the first place. It dawned on me yesterday- this is where God wanted us to be. He knew that we needed to be here.

The Cat was away-- the mice did play!

Whew! The weekend went by in a blur! It was just Taylor & me for the last 4 days. Bobby has been in Georgia with Timm, Miranda, Mike and Travis. They headed to the woods to work on some stuff for "Living Room Environments" @ our church. I can't wait to see what is going to be unvailed! Seems like these past few days have flown by for me, non-stop.

Of course with the "Cat away, we did play" 3 malls in 2 days!(Lake Wales; Lakeland & Brandon) Oh what joy! We definately got our shopping fix! We did some major Max'n & Relax'n. It was P-A-R-T-Y at the McCue house this weekend!

Sunday afternoon, I was trying to teach Taylor how to skateboard. At one point, one of our neighbors was standing at his window shaking his head. Yeah, so it's been a long time since this ol' girl has been on a skate board and I am not quite as skinny as I used to be, but I think if I dig in deep enough, I still got it goin' on... Well, with 40 not too far away, maybe I won't get on a ramp or anything, on second thought staying on the board on flat ground probably is a really good idea... Taylor was freak'n out! She kept saying that I was going to bust my butt... I told her I would only fall once and then if I didn't get up not to worry, call 9-1-1 or she could wait for a few more minutes and our Family Group would be arriving at the house and they would help rescue me! Yeah, this ol' girl's got it going on- for just a brief couple of minutes, I felt like a kid again- laughing like crazy at myself and just having fun hanging out with my girl! Remember the neighbor? Well, the other neighbors drove up and stayed outside (pretending not to be watching) then another one across the street came outside and stood at her doorstep. You know secretely, they probably had visions of getting a good laugh themselves watching me wipe out... Sorry to disappoint! Lesson #1 in skateboarding 101 wen pretty good. Taylor will be shredding it up soon and I get to file this memory in my mind forever! What joy God gave to me when he gave me my daughter! Just because she is a teenager now, doesn't mean that the days of first's are long gone. We have plenty more first to celebrate together as a family. I look forward to sharing them all with her dad (and the love of my life) Bobby!
